For every 9th grade government job application, a person has to pay TK 500-700 as application fee. It’s a huge burden for job seekers. Moreover, those who are at the end of their age limit for a government job, many of these examinations will be their last chance to land on a job. Giving so many job tests on the same date is a farce, exclaimed Fargana Yeasmin (Merin), former student of Rajshahi University, now a job seeker in a frustrating tone to The Report.
She was expressing her anger as there are several entry examinations for government jobs this Friday (October 8). Some of the tests will be held at the same time.
Various ministries and government departments stopped taking job entrance exams after the onset of Covid-19 infection in the country. After almost a year and a half the ministries and government departments have started taking the job tests.
However, the job seekers are in trouble as there are multiple exams on the same day. Next Friday, a total of 16 government job circular has been published, some of the exam schedules are on the same day & time.
“The authority is not letting the job seekers take the tests free. We have to pay to apply for them, so it is our right to have the chance to attend the exams,” Sajid Rahman, another job seeker told this to TheReport.Live.
The Report connected with multiple officials of the Ministry of Public Administration (MOPA) and Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC). The officials said that they have no connection with so many job entrance exams scheduled at the same day and time.
“It is up to the government departments and ministries when they will take the entrance exams that is under them. We have not given them any instruction regarding the job entrance examinations and have no connection with it,” they said.
The officials explained, “Government departments and ministries usually conduct job examinations under their own supervision. It is entirely up to the department or ministry to decide the exam schedule.”
Sajid Rahman, the job seeker said, “The authority is making us choosing which exams to attend. Hundreds of thousands job seekers applied to take the tests. After giving so much money for the job entrance exam, it is frustrating for a job seeker to see that he or she cannot even attend the exam and it is not the job seeker’s fault”.
“The job seekers are facing mental depression because of this. Many of the job seekers had their last shot at government jobs through these exams as their age limit to take part in the entrance exams is over. But they have lost the chance because of the schedule,” he further added.
