3 dead, 20 trapped, and 9 rescued: Colombia landslide

Authorities in Colombia said that a landslide on Sunday engulfed a road, killing three and trapping 20 in the mud.

Crews were searching for passengers on a bus and a motorcycle who had been injured in the accident in a rural area of the northwest Colombian municipality of Pueblo Rico.

President Gustavo Petro wrote on Twitter, "Nine rescued, three fatalities and an estimated 20 who remain to be found. It is a tragedy.

Civil defense officials said one of the dead was a seven-year girl.

The bus had set out from the city of Cali with 25 passengers, civil defense officials said.

This rainy season is Colombia‍‍`s worst in 40 years, according to the government, causing accidents that have left more than 270 people dead.
