Actress Nipun Akter has filed a petition with the appellate division of the Supreme Court challenging the high court order that stayed the decision of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation’s appeal board declaring Zayed Khan’s candidacy illegal.
“The hearing maybe conducted today if the petition comes to the day’s cause list of the chamber judge,” Nipun’s lawyer Mostafizur Rahman Khan told Media.
Voting for Bangladesh Artistes Association was held on 28 January. Zayed Khan was declared general secretary on the following day.
Later, Nipun filed a written complaint with the appeal board chairman. The appeal board was directed to take decision to this connection on 2 February by the social welfare department.
The appeal board declared Zayed Khan’s candidacy illegal on 5 February and declared Nipun Akter as general secretary.
Zayed Khan filed a writ petition with the high court on 8 February challenging appeal board’s decision.
