On the occasion of the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence, the first shipment of food products under the naval protocol is going to India on Tuesday.
This consignment contains 25 thousand cartons of lychee drink of Pran Group. The goods will depart from Pran Industrial Park at Palash in Narsingdi and reach the TT Shed at Kolkata Port.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury announced the inauguration of the program from his presence at Pran Industrial Park.
It was informed at the ceremony that the cargo ship would start its journey from Shitalakshya in Narsingdi, enter India via Narayanganj, Sheikhbaria in Khulna and reach the port of Kolkata. It will take 7 days to reach the destination of the ship after covering a distance of 610 km.
The cost of transporting goods by water is 30 percent less than by road. There is a risk of product spoilage or product quality loss due to poor road conditions in many places. But the waterway is safe in this case.
The Report spoke to Pran RFL's Managing Director Rathebdra Nath Paul in this regard.
He said, "Today our product Lychee Drink has been shipped to West Bengal, India for the first time by waterways. With this, a new doorway of exporting products has opened as the transport cost will be reduced upto 40 percent by shipping through rivers. We hope to continue this process as we have a good presene in Indian market."
"India is the biggest export market of Pran-RFL, specially in the seven sisters region. But we're doing good in other regions too. That's why Pran has created a brand value among the Indian customers", he added.
According to Pran Group, their export activities to neighbouring India started in 1997. Then Pran Chanachur went to the neighbouring state of Tripura. From there, life products are now being exported to each of the 26 states of India.
Narsingdi-2 MP Anwarul Ashraf Khan, Commerce Secretary Muhammad Zafar Uddin were present as special guests on the occasion. Shipping Secretary Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner Syeda Farhana Kaunain, Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Kazi Ashraful Azim, Pran Group Chairman Ahsan Khan Chowdhury. BIWTA Chairman Comrade Golam Sadeq, NDP presided over the function.
