Carew to double production to meet domestic demand

The demand of liquor and alcoholic products has increased in the country in recent years.

The country’s 83-years-old Carew & Company (Bangladesh) Limited in Darshana bagged taka 195 crore profit in FY 2020-2021.

The one-off state-owned liquor and alcoholic distillery company will boost production through automatic process as the profit is rising.

The government is mulling double production as the supply of local and foreign liquor fell short.

As part of the plan the authorities have planned to install another unit in Darshana to boost the production, reports Bangla portal Newsbangla24.com.

The company sells 12-13 thousand cases of liquor in every month on an average, NB reports quoting the company sources.

Carew and Company increased its production by 50 per cent in 2021 in comparison to 2020.

The company sold 18 thousand 579 cases liquor in October and 19 thousand 446 cases in November. In December the company sold more than 21 thousand cases.

Carew produces liquor weighing to 175ml, 375 ml and 750ml. Each case contains twelve bottles 750ml liquor, 24 bottles of 375ml and 48 bottles of 175ml.

Carew produces liquor of nine brands including Yellow label malted whisky, Gold Riband Gin, Fine Brandy, Cherry Brandy, Imperial Whisky, Orange Curacao, Tsarina Vodka, Rosa Rum and Old Rum.

The government has taken a project to develop the Carew and Company involving taka 102.21 crore. The project is expected to conclude this year.
