Cheetahs return to India after 70 years

Eight cheetahs from Namibia arrived in Madhya Pradesh this morning as part of a project to reintroduce this animal to India seven decades after it was deemed extinct in the nation. They were transported there in a special cargo plane.

Soon, the big cats will be transported by helicopter to Kuno National Park in the Madhya Pradesh region of Sheopur, where they will be released.

On his 72nd birthday today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will personally welcome these African cheetahs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release three African cheetahs into the park's quarantine enclosures this morning in honor of his birthday, an official said.
