Citizen’s Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh on Monday demanded the introduction of an allowance of Tk 1000 for educated unemployed people in the upcoming national budget.
It also wanted the introduction of Education Credit Card for students with a yearly limit of Tk 100000, among other demands, at a discussion meeting held in Dhaka.
Demand for increasing rate to Tk 1000 for all types of allowances under the social safety net programme was also made by the platform leaders.
Citizen's Platform for SDGs, Bangladesh convener Debapriya Bhattacharya, also a distinguished fellow of Centre for Policy Dialogue, presented a paper on the current economic situation, upcoming budget and perspective of the left behind communities.
He noted the new national budget would be placed on June 9 against the backdrop that the macro economy of the country was facing biggest challenge after 2007 -08.
