Ferry movement has been suspended for two hours at Shimulia-Banglabazar-Majhirkandi due to dense fog.
Authorities have canceled the ferry movement from 5:30 am to 7:30 am Monday to avert any untoward situation.
Terminal officials said, cloud was hovering over the sky since early Monday. When the fog melted away it turned into dense fog leaving four loaded ferries waiting to cross.
The ferry movement returned to normalcy after the fog was clear. However, the suspension led to sufferings for the commuters.
“Fog is natural during the winter. We also experienced fog during spring (Falgun). However, we never saw it before during the summer (Jyeshtha). We suspended the ferry movement to avoid any mishap,” Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) spokesperson at Shimulia ghat Md. Shafiqul Islam told the media.
