DU Students express gratitude for vaccination campaign

The vaccination for Dhaka University (DU) students who registered using their NID card is going full pace amidst enthusiasm. The vaccination has turned into a festival among the students, they are posting vaccination photos in their social media expressing gratitude to the government and DU authority.

According to a media report, a number of 38 thousand students have registered for covid-19 vaccine but who registered using institutional e-mail or birth card are not getting vaccine as NID is must for registering in Surokkha app. The administration discussed this matter to the Election Commission and it assured the DU authority that the students will get the NID on priority basis.

Meanwhile DU gave another chance to register for vaccine who have failed to register after having NID card in the first phase.

Dhaka University students, who has taken the first dose of Pfizer vaccine from Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital (ShSMCH) said that there was a separate vaccination center, he went there and got vaccinated without any troubles.

“After vaccination I had suffered from fever for two days. I recovered from the fever with first aid” he added.

Atikur Rahman Ruhan, a student of Mass Communication and Journalism department at DU said, “I had to wait about twenty minutes as there were a lot of vaccines expecting people.”

I have taken the Sinopharm vaccine from Dhaka Medical College Hospital, yet I didn’t face any side effects. I’m satisfied with the service and want to thank the government to take a timely initiative, he added”

Talking to more than 20 students it is known that some students are facing a few side effects but most are not facing any suffering from vaccine. They are satisfied with the service they get.

Dr. Sarwar Jahan Muktafi, Chief Medical Officer (Acting), said, “As the whole vaccination process is centrally controlled, we don’t have a chance to know how many students have gotten the vaccine. Students who registered are getting vaccine and for those who do not have NID card, a decision will be made soon.”
