Police have arrested Khwaja Al Amin Shohag, former deputy social service secretary of Joypurhat district Chhatra League, in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
He was arrested from Purbabazar area of the city on Friday night. Joypurhat Municipality Panel Mayor Dewan Iqbal Hasan on Thursday filed the case with Joypurhat Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court.
According to the case statement, Shohag used his Facebook account to spread "baseless, defamatory, and indecent remarks" in the names of Awami League Organising Secretary and Whip of Jatiya Sangsad, Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan, and others, including the district Awami League president and general secretary.
