Popular Bangladeshi filmmaker Gias Uddin Selim has officially signed a contract with Dhallywood star Nusraat Faria Mazhar for his upcoming film ‘Gunin’ on Saturday (August 28).
He also signed casting contracts ‘Networker Baire’ star Shariful Razz who recently went through a horrible car crash and also internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi actor Mostafa Monwar (‘Live From Dhaka’) on the same day.
The film is based on a short story of the same name by veteran Bangladeshi author Hasan Azizul Huq.
The feature-length adaptation screenplay of the short story was written by Selim.
The director confirmed The Report’s Showbiz team that shooting for the project will commence in October.
Selim told The Report: “The project is very unique and will showcase a timeline of a total of 50 years. The protagonist Rabeya is a woman from a very conservative Bangali family of that era.”
“This is a Chorki original feature film and it had been under development for more than a year,” he added.
He also said that the project is being produced for OTT release but may get a limited theatrical release if the Covid-19 situation gets better.
'Gunin' will also star Azad Abul Kalam, Iresh Zaker, Naila Azad Nupur, Dilara Zaman, Shilpi Sarker among others.
His last film ‘Paap Punno,’ produced by Impress Telefilm, is awaiting release. The film features Afsana Mimi, Siam Ahmed, Farzana Chumki, Sumi.
Selim’s debut film ‘Monpura’ starring Chanchal Chowdhury is considered one of the most iconic Bangladeshi films ever made.
