Awami League nominated mayoral candidate Selina Hayat Ivy is apparently on her way to seal the hat trick victory as the result of 150 centres have already come out. Results of 37 centres are yet to come.
Ivy, the boat symbol, bagged 1 lakh 26 thousand 995 votes while her prime rival Taimur Alam Khandaker gained 72 thousand 373 votes with the elephant symbol.
Earlier, the polls for Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) opened Sunday morning.
Starting from 8am in the morning the voting continued till 4pm without any break. The balloting ended without any major report of election day violence.
The entire election was conducted through the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
There are a total of 5 lakh 17 thousand 361 voters in the city. Of them, 2 lakh 59 thousand 846 are men while 2 lakh 57 thousand 511 are female.
The number of total polling centres was 187 with 1 thousand 301 boots.
