In Sadar upazila of the Laxmipur district on Friday night, a local leader of the Jubo League was attacked and shot dead.
Alauddin Patwari, 45, the vice-president of the Jubo League's Bashikpur union unit, was identified as the deceased.
Around 10 p.m., the victim was attacked by 5-6 guys in the Padma Dighirpar neighborhood of Bashikpur, according to Mosleh Uddin, officer-in-charge of Chandraganj police station.
The men fired at Alauddin then he was brought to the Sadar Upazila Health Complex, where the medical staff immediately declared him dead.
Police believe he was murdered over previous enmity or establishing supremacy in the area.
