Lyricist, film director, producer and screenwriter Gazi Mazharul Anwar passed away on Sunday 4th September. He was 79.
"He was taken to the Hospital from his residence at around 6:30am as he fell ill. The on-duty doctors said that his pulse was not available. After some time, doctors declared him dead,” said his daughter-in-law Shahana Mirza.
Gazi Mazharul Anwar was ill for the past few days, she added.
He was born in February 22, 1943, in Cumilla's Daudkandi. He was awarded the Ekushey Padak and also received the National Film Award five times. He also won the Swadhinata Padak last year.
