After a prolonged delay of nearly eight months, Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations are set to begin on Thursday (December 2) at 10:00 am.
Last year, HSC and equivalent examination were not held due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead, students were evaluated and results were published on the basis of previous public examinations.
Speaking to the media in this regard on Tuesday (November 30), Education Minister Dr. Dipu has urged everyone to remain cautious, and maintain all Covid-19 protocols amid fears of the new Omicron variant.
This year's examinees will have to take tests only in three optional subjects. They will not have to sit tests in compulsory subjects like Bangla and English.
Moroever, syllabus for this year's examination has been shortened by the authorities. The exams will also carry lesser marks.
This year the examination is open to about 14 lakh students. Of them, 7.30 lakh are boys and 6.70 lakh are girls.
Of this, about 11.4 lakh students will participate in the exams under nine general education boards, 1.13 lakh under the madrasa education board and 1.48 lakh under the technical education board.
The HSC examinations will end on December 30.
