Missing Khulna woman, presumed dead by daughter, found alive

An elderly woman from Khulna, who had been missing since August 27 and was believed to be dead, has been found alive in Faridpur, confirmed local police.

A team of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) rescued Rahima Begum, 52, alive from Boalmari village of Faridpur at around 11:15pm on Saturday.

KMP Deputy Commissioner (North) Molla Jahangir Hossain said a team led by Assistant Police Commissioner Abdur Rahman conducted a raid in that village after receiving information that Rahima was hiding there.

She was being taken to Khulna at the time of fiing the report.

An officer at Daulatpur police station said that Rahima voluntarily took refuge in that village.

On Thursday, Rahima’s daughter, claimed that she had found her mother’s body in Mymensingh.

"I have just found my mother's body," this is what Mariuam Mannan wrote in a Facebook post.

On August 27, Rahima went missing after she had stepped out to fetch water near her home in the Banikpara area around 10pm. Her children found her sandals, scarf and the pitcher she was carrying from the spot.

The family first filed a complaint with the police, based on which an FIR was lodged by the cops against some people.
