Pakistan mosque attack: 83 killed, 157 injured

A deadly mosque blast in Peshawar on Monday, killed at least 83 people and left about 157 injured.

The rescue mission is still underway in the mosque, led by the law enforcement officials.

The suicide bomber struck the mosque inside a police compound in Pakistan. Immediately after blast, the roof collapsed and killed at least 83 till now.  

Most of the casualties were police officers. It was not clear how the bomber was able to slip into the walled compound, which houses the police headquarters in Peshawar and is itself located in a high-security zone with other government buildings.

Sarbakaf Mohmand, a commander for the Pakistani Taliban, also known as Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan or TTP, claimed responsibility for the attack in a post on Twitter.
