Priyodorsini Mela held at DU to connect entrepreneurs, consumers

Two-day-long entrepreneur fair titled “Priyodorsini Mela” held in Ruquayyah Hall with the aim of ice-breaking between the entrepreneur and the consumers.  

The entrepreneurs expressed their gratitude to the hall authority and the Chhatra League for the arrangement.

Provost of the hall Dr. Zeenat Huda inaugurated this fair yesterday, after the inauguration, she roamed the premises. 

Taramoon Nesa Prova, the owner of ‘Nobyota’ said that the fair drew up a huge response from both sides, the entrepreneurs and the consumers’ presence. 

She added that she was previously running her business online platform that’s why the consumers weren’t able to scrutinize the product, she explains this as an opportunity to get their attention. 

Expressing joy for the consumers’ response, Esha Chakma, founder of ‘Mejang’ said, “Such initiatives encourage the small-sized entrepreneurs but if the continuity doesn’t maintain the whole project will be a waste.”

Afnan Nawshin, a student of Dhaka University who was roaming the fair said, “It is a real pleasure for me to see that women entrepreneurs are organizing fair to sell their hand made product.” 

“The notable presence of the domestic product made me proud for a moment.”

Atika Binta Hossain, President of Ruquayyah Hall Chhatra League thanked the hall administration for their courage and help. She said, “I saw a huge number of our students have started their online business during the pandemic. Since then I was thinking of making an offline platform for them, and this has happened in its continuity."

Antara Das Pritha, General Secretary of Ruquayyah Hall Chhatra League said, “We took the initiative to bring the women entrepreneurs under the same platform. We wanted to introduce our women entrepreneur to the university students, and I do believe that the participants are also happy.”

Provost Dr. Zeenat Huda said, “Seeing the participation in the fair, we can predict how far the women will go in the upcoming years.”

“All the entrepreneurs here are working on Bengali culture and tradition,” She said, adding, you see the combination of Education, Economy, and culture. 

However, Ruquayyah Hall Chhatra League in association with the Hall administration organized this fair. A number of 34 stalls were set up for the start-up businessperson where women entrepreneurs had their allowance by the authority.
