US road crash kills 2 Bangladeshi students

Two Bangladeshi students have been killed and three others were injured in a road accident in New Jersey, USA.

The deceased are--Shakil Ali, 19, a student of computer science at the University of South California, and Shahriar Uddin Ahmed, also 19, a second-year student of electrical engineering at MIT, Boston.

The injured are--Tahmidur Chowdhury, 19, Subrata Chowdhury, 19, and Joshua Rivera, 18. 

According to a report of TDS, the accident took place on Woodhall Road in Paterson city of New Jersey on Friday night when the five friends were on their way to a shop.

New Jersey State's Passaic County prosecutor and Little Falls police told local media that a Mercedes car collided with the jeep the victims were in. Shahriar Uddin died on the spot while Shakil succumbed to his injuries after being taken to St Joseph's University Hospital. The other three are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Shakil Ali, who worked as an intern at Amazon, was the president of Future Business Leaders of America and treasurer of the Rho Kappa Honor Society.

Shahriar was the technology director of Sabuj BanglaTV. He had launched an online tutoring app named after Congressman Bill Pascroll of the Patterson area to help pupils with homework.

The untimely demise of the two young men has shocked and deeply saddened their peers and the Bangali community of Patterson city.
