Watch: Jaya worries Afghanistan scenario can occur in Bangladesh

Popular Bangladeshi actor Jaya Ahsan has raised concerns that the recent Afghanistan scenario can occur in West Bengal or even Bangladesh. She said these in an exclusive interview with popular Indian Bangali daily Anandabazar Patrika on Wednesday (August 18).

In the recent interview with Anandabazar, Jaya said: “The more pictures from there I am seeing, the more my insides are crumbling.”

“In fact, the finger of the patriarchal society is always on girls. It's like a compass, it always turns towards women.”

Talking about Internationally acclaimed Afghan female filmmaker Saraah Karimi and her open letter to the filmmaking world Jaya said that she is always in support of her. Although she can not figure out what can be done from so far.

However, she added that everyone should be vocal if a girl anywhere in the world is oppressed.

She also fears "what is happening there today may happen in my country (Bangladesh) or in Kolkata tomorrow."

Jaya shared her views on the recent political takeover of the Taliban in Afghanistan during this Anandabazar interview about her upcoming Indian film 'Bini Sutoy', made by India's National Award-winning director Atanu Ghosh.

She said she will also be seen in the upcoming Indian films titled ‘OCD’ and ‘Bhootpori.’

When asked if she is feeling competition about her Bangladeshi fellow actors Badhon and Mithila in the West Bengal industry, she gracefully replied that she is very happy about it.

“And if you think of it as competition, it is better to have healthy competition like this. In my opinion, the art industry should have no boundaries. I want more people to come and work in the Indian industry from Bangladesh.

“And not just actors and actresses, directors should come and work here too,” added Jaya.

It will be directed by popular Bangladeshi band Meghdol's vocalist, lyricist and talented filmmaker Mejbaur Rahman Sumon. The production of ‘Raeed’ will begin when the Covid-19 situation gets a bit better in Bangladesh.

Her debut as a producer occurred with the 2018 film 'Debi' directed by Anam Biswas. Jaya was also a central character in the popular film alongside Chanchal Chowdhury.
