Victims who were charred to death in the Barguna-bound launch fire will be buried in a mass grave. The bodies of 30 unidentified people will be buried in Jhalakathi, said authorities.
“We will complete the burial of 30 bodies in a mass grave in Potkakhali after funeral prayers at 11:00 am on Saturday (December 24), said Barguna Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rahman.
Meanwhile, he also added that the DNA samples of the bodies have been preserved.
Nine of the 41 bodies recovered by fire service were handed over to their families.
The Jhalakathi district administration handed over the remaining 32 bodies to the Barguna district authorities.
Only two of the victims could be identified, as per the last report.
At least 41 people lost their lives in the fire on MV Obhijan 10 on the Sugandha River in Jhalakathi in the early hours of Friday (December 24).
Many passengers still remain missing, and authorities fear the death toll could rise as many of those who survived are undergoing treatment with critical burn injuries.
