Bangladesh slips on corruption index, ranks 13th most corrupt globally: TIB

Bangladesh has ranked 13th among the world’s most corrupt countries in 2025, slipping one position from 14th in 2024, according to Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI).

Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) released the CPI 2025 on Monday (10 February) at the MIDAS Centre in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

The findings were presented by TIB Executive Director Iftekharuzzaman.

The index is compiled using data collected between November 2022 and September 2025 and measures perceived levels of public-sector corruption on a scale of 0 to 100, where 0 represents the highest level of corruption and 100 the lowest.

In 2025, Bangladesh scored 24 out of 100, marking a one-point increase from its score of 23 in the previous year.

Despite the slight improvement, Iftekharuzzaman expressed serious concern over the overall situation. “We are losing control of corruption. Our score is very disappointing,” he said.

The CPI 2025 provides an overview of corruption trends across countries worldwide, identifying those that are improving, declining or stagnating. It also highlights key global, regional and national factors driving corruption.

This year’s index ranks 182 countries and territories based on perceived levels of public-sector corruption.
