The Chief Adviser’s office has directed government officials to avoid foreign trips unless absolutely necessary until the upcoming national election.
A circular outlining compliance with foreign travel guidelines has been issued to all ministry and division secretaries, the cabinet secretary, and the personal secretaries to all advisers. According to the notice, earlier directives from the Chief Adviser’s office, along with a letter from the Finance Division dated July 8, have already provided instructions to limit overseas travel.
The circular highlights that there have been instances of non-compliance, including responsible advisers and secretaries traveling abroad at the same time, and multiple officials from the same ministry going on foreign trips together.
It further notes that proposals for such trips have continued to be submitted to the Chief Adviser’s office despite previous instructions to restrict them.
