Opposition Chief Whip Mujibul Haque has demanded to withdraw the decision to increase the price of electricity, commenting that people are in a miserable condition. He made this claim by participating in an unscheduled discussion in the National Parliament today on Tuesday.
Mujibul Haque said, "People are in a miserable condition. There is no price control as well as no monitoring by the government. People are living a very unbearable life. In this situation, the government has increased the price of electricity from 34 to 70 paise per unit. Gas prices have also been increased."
"Increasing the price of electricity will raise the price of many other things. He said the production of many items is dependent on electricity. As a result, the price of other things will increase as well", he added.
Demanding to withdraw the decision to increase the prices, Mujibul Haque said that only a month ago, the people had elected this government with a lot of hope. And, that government increases electricity and gas prices before Ramadan which is intolerable.
Mujibul Haque said, "On behalf of our party, I will request the government not to raise the prices of gas and electricity at this time. The government, the citizens, and the economy should all be steady."
