Cricketer Taskin Ahmed accused of assault in police complaint

A General Diary (GD) has been filed against Bangladeshi cricketer Taskin Ahmed at Mirpur Model Police Station, alleging that he physically assaulted and threatened a man after luring him out over a phone call.

The alleged incident took place on Sunday night (July 27) in the Mirpur-1 area of Dhaka.

Although police officials have not made any official statements, a source at the police station confirmed to media that the complaint against Taskin is genuine and that an investigation is already underway.

According to the complaint, Taskin allegedly called the complainant, Sifatur Rahman Sourav, to meet and then punched and assaulted him, also issuing threats. Police sources indicated that Taskin and the complainant had a prior personal relationship.

Attempts to reach Taskin for comment were unsuccessful—his phone remained switched off, and he did not respond to calls made via WhatsApp. His father, Abdur Rashid, was also unreachable.

Taskin Ahmed last appeared for the national team during the third T20I match against Pakistan, held on July 24.
