The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has sacked Bangladesh U-20 head coach Gerard Jones just one day before the team’s scheduled departure for Uzbekistan to compete in the AFC U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers.
A reliable source within the BFF confirmed the development.
After weeks of uncertainty surrounding the team’s tour, the BFF has finally brought an end to Jones’ tenure. The Bangladesh U-20 football team is scheduled to leave for Uzbekistan on Wednesday (August 26).
The decision to remove the head coach came just 24 hours before the team’s crucial trip. In Jones’ absence, assistant coach Atikur Rahman Mishu is expected to take charge of the team for now.
