The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again raised gold prices in the local market. The price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk3,849 per bhori, bringing the price, including VAT, to Tk240,628 per bhori.
BAJUS announced the new prices in a notice on Thursday morning. The revised prices came into effect at 10am the same day.
BAJUS said the new prices were set after considering the overall market situation, as the price of locally sourced gold had increased.
Under the new pricing structure, 22-carat gold costs Tk240,628 per bhori, including VAT. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk229,781, 18-carat gold at Tk197,355, and traditional-method gold at Tk161,196 per bhori.
The new prices will remain in effect at all jewellery shops across the country until further notice. However, labour charges will apply depending on the design of the jewellery. Since VAT is included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, retailers cannot charge customers an additional amount as VAT.
BAJUS last adjusted gold prices on August 15. On that occasion, it raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk2,158 per bhori to Tk236,779. Just five days later, the price has been increased by another Tk3,849.
So far this year, BAJUS has adjusted gold prices 105 times. Of these, prices have been raised 53 times, lowered 51 times and adjusted once to reflect VAT changes. In 2025, gold prices were adjusted 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
Meanwhile, silver prices have also increased in the local market. The price of 22-carat silver has been raised by Tk233 per bhori to Tk5,307. The price of 21-carat silver has been set at Tk5,074, 18-carat silver at Tk4,374 and traditional-method silver at Tk3,324 per bhori.
So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 63 times, with 33 increases and 30 decreases. In 2025, silver prices were adjusted 13 times—10 increases and three decreases.
