Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that a new pay scale for government employees will be announced and implemented within this year. He said the government is working on the new pay scale and discussions are underway on various aspects of the proposal.
The finance minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Monday afternoon after a meeting on the pay scale at the Ministry of Finance.
Asked whether the new pay scale would be implemented within this year, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “The new pay scale will be implemented within this year.”
He said, “Everything will happen, but there are still some issues that require further discussion. We discussed one aspect today. There are other issues as well. Once those discussions are completed and a comprehensive decision is reached, it will be presented to you.”
The finance minister also said the government was considering all relevant issues with utmost importance in deciding on the new pay scale.
He urged everyone to remain patient, adding that the government would provide details once a comprehensive and final decision had been made.
