The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised gold prices after three consecutive cuts in the domestic market, increasing the price by up to Tk 5,482 per bhori, including VAT.
The new prices came into effect at 10am on Thursday.
According to a BAJUS notice, the decision to revise gold prices was taken at a meeting of the association’s Standing Committee on Price Determination and Price Monitoring at 9am on Thursday.
Under the new price structure, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold has been priced at Tk 237,362, including VAT. The price was Tk 231,880 on Wednesday, meaning the price has increased by Tk 5,482 per bhori.
The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 226,690 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 194,614 per bhori. Gold sold under the traditional system has been priced at Tk 158,980 per bhori.
BAJUS has also raised silver prices. Under the new rates, 22-carat silver costs Tk 5,132 per bhori, 21-carat silver Tk 4,957, 18-carat silver Tk 4,257, and silver sold under the traditional system Tk 3,208 per bhori.
