Yash’s pan-Indian film ‘Toxic’ made a blockbuster start at the Bollywood box office, crossing the ₹100 crore mark on its opening day. The film entered the ₹100 crore club within just five hours of release, surpassing five other films released earlier this year.
However, ‘Toxic’ saw a sharp drop in earnings on its second day on Thursday.
According to Sacnilk, the film earned around ₹36.40 crore in India on its second day, marking a decline of nearly 64% from its opening-day collection. With ₹101.10 crore earned on the first day, the film’s total net collection in India stood at ₹137.50 crore after two days.
Compared with its original Kannada version, ‘Toxic’ is performing relatively better in its Hindi and Telugu versions. However, collections from the Tamil and Malayalam versions have been considerably weaker.
The film has faced harsh criticism from reviewers over its excessive violence, controversial scenes and weak screenplay. Despite the criticism, ‘Toxic’ continues to have strong box-office potential.
The big question now is whether the film can maintain its momentum in the coming days and eventually secure a place among the year’s highest-grossing films.
