Sanjay Leela Bhansali is expected to begin work on the much-awaited Madhubala biopic in September, shortly after wrapping up his long-delayed film Love & War. Sara Arjun is set to play the legendary actress in the yet-to-be-titled project.
According to a report by Mid-Day, the Madhubala biopic will go on floors at Royal Palms in Goregaon, the same location where Bhansali is currently shooting the final song of Love & War. Production on the film is expected to finish by the end of August.
Once the shoot ends, the production design team will reportedly begin transforming the location for the Madhubala film. The project is being directed by Jasmeet K. Reen, known for Darlings.
The biopic will explore the life and legacy of Madhubala, one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated actresses. Sara Arjun has already started preparing for the role, with the director focusing on Madhubala’s personality, mannerisms and the world she lived in.
Details about the film are being kept under wraps for now.
Meanwhile, Bhansali is completing Love & War, which reunites him with Ranbir Kapoor after their collaboration on Saawariya. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal and is set against a wartime backdrop, with the story revolving around an emotional love triangle involving two military officers.
Love & War is scheduled to release in theatres on January 21, 2027.
Ranbir is also preparing for the release of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 in November. He has Animal Park and Brahmastra Part 2 in the pipeline, while Alia is set to return for the latter. Vicky, meanwhile, is expected to begin work on the mythological action drama Mahavatar.
