PM opens Navy and Air Force Selection Boards-2026

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday formally inaugurated the Navy and Air Force Selection Boards-2026, constituted to consider eligible officers of the Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Air Force for promotion.

The prime minister, as the chief guest, inaugurated the selection boards at the headquarters of the Bangladesh Air Force at Dhaka Cantonment this morning, said his Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.

Under the promotion boards, eligible Bangladesh Navy officers holding the ranks of captain, commander and lieutenant commander, and Bangladesh Air Force officers holding the ranks of group captain, wing commander and squadron leader, will be considered for promotion to their next ranks.

Upon his arrival at the venue, the prime minister was received by Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Khondkar Misbah Ul Azim and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan.

Before the proceedings of the selection boards began, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman pinned the Admiral’s rank insignia on Chief of Naval Staff Khondkar Misbah Ul Azim.

After pinning on the rank insignia, the prime minister congratulated the newly appointed naval chief.

Admiral Khondkar Misbah Ul Azim expressed his sincere gratitude to the prime minister on behalf of the Bangladesh Navy. He also sought the prime minister’s valuable advice and guidance to further develop the Bangladesh Navy into a more modern, capable and time-befitting force.

The prime minister’s Defence Adviser, the chiefs of the Army and Air Force, and the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division were also present at the programme.
