Three more children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while another 1,044 people were newly diagnosed with measles and measles-like symptoms of the disease.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in its regular measles report on Thursday.
According to the report, two people died with measles symptoms in Dhaka Division and one in Sylhet Division during the past 24 hours. However, no deaths were confirmed to have been caused by measles.
With these deaths, the number of people who have died with measles symptoms across the country has reached 887 since March 15 through Thursday. During the same period, another 99 deaths were confirmed to have been caused by measles, bringing the combined death toll from confirmed measles cases and measles symptoms to 986.
Meanwhile, 80 people were confirmed to have measles in the past 24 hours, while 964 people were reported to have measles symptoms. During the same period,
people were admitted to hospitals, while were discharged after receiving treatment.According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 161,148 since March 15 through Thursday. Of these, 19,527 have been confirmed as measles cases.
During this period, a total of 141,449 patients were admitted to hospitals, of whom 136,405 were discharged after receiving treatment.
