Six more children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 1,231 children were diagnosed with measles and measles-like symptoms during the same period.
The figures were disclosed in the latest measles situation report released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) today (Tuesday).
According to the DGHS report, although six children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, no child died from confirmed measles during the period.
Since March 15, a total of 880 children have died with measles-like symptoms across the country. During the same period, 99 children have died from confirmed measles. The combined death toll from measles-like symptoms and confirmed measles now stands at 979.
Meanwhile, 72 people tested positive for measles in the past 24 hours, while 1,159 people developed measles-like symptoms. Since March 15, a total of 19,384 people have been confirmed to have measles, while the number of people who have developed measles-like symptoms has reached 159,150.
According to DGHS data, a total of 139,519 people with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals since March 15. Of them, 134,458 have recovered after receiving treatment and have been discharged from hospitals.
