PM pays tribute to Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia on BNP’s founding anniversary

Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman paid tribute to the party’s founder, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia on the occasion of the 48th founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Tarique Rahman visited their graves at Zia Udyan in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Tuesday morning and offered prayers and paid his respects.

Meanwhile, BNP leaders and activists began gathering at Zia Udyan from early morning to take part in the party’s founding anniversary programmes. They arrived in small processions, chanting various slogans and expressing enthusiasm for the occasion.

Party leaders said the BNP must be further organised and strengthened by upholding the ideals and political philosophy of its founder, Ziaur Rahman. They also called for united efforts to safeguard democracy and sovereignty and to establish the rights of the people.

Among those present were BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Local Government Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Chief Whip of Parliament Nurul Islam Moni, Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, and many other party leaders and activists.
