The Election Commission (EC) has published the final voter list ahead of the upcoming local government elections, with 12 crore 87 lakh 77 thousand 643 registered voters eligible to cast their ballots.
EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed published the final voter list at the Election Commission building in Agargaon on Monday.
According to the final list, there are 6 crore 55 lakh 10 thousand 665 male voters and 6 crore 32 lakh 65 thousand 711 female voters. In addition, the list includes 1,267 hijra voters.
The publication of the final voter list marks an important step in the EC’s preparations for the upcoming local government elections. Attention will now turn to the announcement of the election schedule and polling date.
EC Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said the commission was ready to conduct the elections. He said the polling date would be announced to the media as soon as it was finalised.
