Gold prices in Bangladesh have fallen for the second time in two days, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) cutting the price of 22-carat gold by another Tk 4,374 per bhori on Monday.
Under the revised rates, a bhori of 22-carat gold, including VAT, will now cost Tk 2,36,254, effective from 10am on Monday. The latest cut brings the total reduction in the price of 22-carat gold to Tk 11,489 since August 29.
Bajus attributed Monday’s reduction to a decline in the price of tejabi, or pure, gold in the local market.
The price of 21-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 4,141 to Tk 2,25,640 per bhori, while 18-carat gold now costs Tk 1,93,739, following a cut of Tk 3,616.
The price of traditional gold has also dropped by Tk 2,916 to Tk 1,58,280 per bhori.
Bajus has also lowered silver prices across all categories.
The price of 22-carat silver, including VAT, has been cut by Tk 175 to Tk 5,132 per bhori. The price of 21-carat silver is now Tk 4,957, down Tk 117.
Meanwhile, 18-carat silver has fallen by Tk 117 to Tk 4,257 per bhori, while traditional silver now costs Tk 3,208, following a reduction of Tk 116.
All prices announced by Bajus include VAT. One bhori is equivalent to 11.664 grams.
