Three more children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 1,098 new cases of measles and measles-like symptoms were reported.
The information was released today (Sunday) in the Directorate General of Health Services’ latest update on the measles situation.
According to the report, three children died with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. During this period, 55 children were confirmed to have measles, while 1,043 children developed measles-like symptoms.
With these deaths, the total number of children who have died from measles or measles-like symptoms across the country since March 15 has risen to 994 as of Sunday. Of them, 100 deaths were confirmed to have been caused by measles, while 894 children died with measles-like symptoms.
In the past 24 hours, one child each died in Cumilla, Moulvibazar and Khulna districts with measles-like symptoms.
Meanwhile, the total number of suspected measles cases reported in the country since March 15 has reached 164,148. Of these, 19,696 cases have been confirmed as measles.
According to DGHS data, a total of 144,168 children with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country since March 15. Of them, 138,772 recovered after treatment and were discharged from hospital.
