4 more children die from measles, measles-like symptoms in 24 hours

Four more children died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, while 917 new cases were reported during the same period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its regular measles report issued on Saturday.

According to the DGHS report, four people died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. During the same period, measles was confirmed in 74 people, while 843 developed measles-like symptoms.

With these deaths, the total number of fatalities from measles and measles-like symptoms across the country has risen to 991 since March 15. Of them, 100 deaths were confirmed to have been caused by measles, while 891 were among people who died after developing measles-like symptoms.

Meanwhile, 843 people developed measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours. Since March 15 this year, the total number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 163,105, including 19,641 confirmed cases.

According to DGHS data, a total of 143,214 patients with measles-like symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country since March 15. Of them, 137,921 have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment.
