Malaysia has limited the issuance of multiple-entry visas (MEVs) for nationals of 31 countries, including Bangladesh, for general social visits. The new visa policy came into effect on September 1, 2026.
Under the new rules, Bangladeshi nationals travelling to Malaysia on visit visas will have fewer opportunities to obtain a one-year multiple-entry visa. In general, Bangladeshi visitors will now be issued single-entry visas for social visits.
Malaysia’s Immigration Department has also published a list of countries whose nationals will no longer be eligible for multiple-entry visas for social visits and will instead be issued single-entry visas.
The new policy was announced in a notice published on the Malaysian Immigration Department’s website.
According to the department, from September 1, 2026, multiple-entry visas will no longer be issued broadly to nationals of all countries.
However, MEVs will still be available for certain specific purposes, including business, medical treatment, fly-and-cruise travel, and wedding tourism.
The new policy applies specifically to visit visas and social visits to Malaysia.
The decision does not directly affect the work permits or employment-related visas of Bangladeshi or other foreign workers currently employed in Malaysia.
