Tanzid Hasan Tamim reached a remarkable milestone in the Darwin Test, becoming the first Bangladeshi batter to score a Test century on Australian soil. It was also the first Test hundred of his career.
Tamim completed his century in the 64th over by taking a single off Nathan Lyon. He stepped forward to a full-length delivery outside off and pushed it towards the off side. Lyon dived but could not stop the ball as it rolled towards the long-off boundary.
Tamim jumped in celebration as he completed the run. After punching the air, he removed his helmet and kissed the crest on it. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto then rushed over and embraced him, while spectators in the stands and his teammates gave him a standing ovation. Tamim was all smiles.
After reaching the 90s, Tamim appeared nervous for a while, but he eventually completed the much-awaited century.
With the landmark hundred, Tamim also etched his name in Bangladesh cricket history as the first Bangladeshi cricketer to score a Test century in Australia.
