The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has reduced gold prices in the country’s market just one day after the previous adjustment. The price has been cut by Tk 3,266 per bhori, bringing the new price of 22-carat gold to Tk 229,664 per bhori, including VAT.
BAJUS announced the decision in a statement issued on Friday morning. The new prices came into effect from 10am on Friday.
BAJUS said the new gold prices were set after considering the overall market situation following a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market.
According to the revised rates, the price of 22-carat gold stands at Tk 229,664 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 219,342 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 188,374 per bhori, and traditional-method gold at Tk 153,148 per bhori.
Earlier on Thursday (August 6), BAJUS had increased gold prices. The price of 22-carat gold was raised by Tk 9,856 per bhori to Tk 232,930, including VAT. At that time, 21-carat gold was priced at Tk 222,491 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 191,056, and traditional-method gold at Tk 156,064 per bhori.
Although gold prices have been reduced, no change has been made to silver prices. According to BAJUS’s fixed rates, the price of 22-carat hallmarked silver remains Tk 420 per gram, 21-carat silver Tk 400 per gram, 18-carat silver Tk 345 per gram, and traditional-method silver Tk 260 per gram.
With this adjustment, gold prices in the country’s market have been revised 99 times so far this year. Among these, prices have been increased 48 times, reduced 50 times, and adjusted once due to VAT changes.
