Police recovered the bodies of a couple and their domestic worker from a house in the Mitali Residential Area of Raynagar in Sylhet city on Wednesday morning.
The bodies were found on the second floor of House No. 111 after neighbours became suspicious when the door remained closed until around 10am. They later called the national emergency helpline 999, prompting police to visit the scene and recover the three bodies, said Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sarwar Murshed.
According to police, the bodies of the wife and the domestic worker were found in one room, while the husband’s body was found in another. All three had injury marks around their throats, police said.
Locals said the couple’s children live abroad.
Police initially suspect that the three were murdered. However, investigators are looking into the motive and who may have been involved.
Police said the bodies will be sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsies after completion of the necessary legal procedures.
