The Home Ministry has issued separate notifications sending seven assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) and 49 police inspectors into retirement from government service.
The notifications were issued by the Police-1 branch of the Home Ministry on Friday morning.
According to the notifications, the seven ASPs were retired from government service in the public interest under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018. A separate notification announced the retirement of 49 police inspectors.
The notifications said the retired officers would receive retirement benefits in accordance with the relevant rules. The orders, issued in the public interest, took immediate effect.
Earlier, on July 23, the government sent 17 senior police officers, including three deputy inspector generals (DIGs), into mandatory retirement at the same time. Among them were three DIGs, 12 additional DIGs and two police superintendents.
