The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has cut the price of gold by Tk 2,158 per bhori after three consecutive rounds of increases, setting the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 234,621 per bhori, including VAT.
The new price came into effect at 10am today (Friday).
In a notice issued this morning, BAJUS said it had revised gold prices following a decline in the price of Tezabi gold (pure gold) in the local market. The new rates were set after taking the overall market situation into consideration.
Under the revised rates, 22-carat gold costs Tk 234,621 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 224,065 per bhori, 18-carat gold at Tk 192,398, and traditional-method gold at Tk 157,172 per bhori.
BAJUS said the new rates will remain in effect at all jewellery shops across the country until further notice. However, making charges will apply depending on the design of the jewellery.
As VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, jewellers cannot collect VAT separately from customers.
For jewellery exchange and purchase, BAJUS’s existing rules will remain in place, excluding applicable VAT, making charges and the value of stones.
The latest adjustment comes a day after BAJUS last revised gold prices on August 13. On that day, the association raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,133 per bhori to Tk 236,779, including VAT. The prices of 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method gold were set at Tk 226,165, Tk 194,260 and Tk 158,630 per bhori, respectively. Those rates also took effect at 10am.
With Friday’s adjustment, BAJUS has revised gold prices 103 times so far this year. Prices have been increased 51 times and reduced 51 times, while there has been one adjustment related to VAT.
In comparison, gold prices were revised 93 times in Bangladesh in 2025. Prices were raised 64 times and lowered 29 times during the year.
