The recruitment tests for the post of senior officer (IT), assistant database administrator of three banks have been postponed.
Bangladesh Bank's spokesperson Md Serajul Islam on Thursday (November 11) said, written tests of three banks (Sonali Bank, Bangladesh Development Bank, and Janata Bank) were declared stopped following unavoidable circumstances.
The rescheduled exam routine to be announced later, he added.
Earlier, Bangladesh Bank started an investigation into the question leak of the preliminary examination for the appointment of officers (cash) in five banks under the Bankers Selection Committee.
The Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology organised the recruitment test for the five banks held on November 6 and applicants were demanding the test afresh on allegation of question paper leaks.
The university had won the tenders, floated by the Bankers Selection Committee of the central bank, also to organise the tests scheduled to be held on November 13 and November 20.
After the question paper leaks, the central bank has also cancelled the work orders to the university, issued by the committee, to organise three other recruitment tests.
The Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday issued a show-cause notice to the university asking it to explain why it would not be blacklisted for the irregularities, a BB official said.
The university has been asked to submit its explanation by November 14, he said, adding that the central bank would take the next steps after receiving the response from the university.
The central bank took the measures after the Detective Branch detected widespread irregularities in the five state-owned banks’ recruitment test for the post of officer (cash).
The DB arrested Rupali Bank’s senior officer Jane Alam, Janata Bank’s officer Shamsul Haque, Pubali Bank’s senior officer Mustafizur Rahman Milon and Ahsanullah University’s technicians Moktaruzzaman and Raisul Islam Sawpan on charge of the question paper leaks.
Meanwhile, the Janata and Rupali banks have suspended four officials over the issue.
The officials are Rupali Bank’s senior officer Jane Alam, Janata Bank’s senior officers Emdadul Haque Khokon and Shohel Rana and the bank’s officer Shamsul Haque, officials confirmed.
