YouTube has announced that it will shut down its long-running Trending Page on July 21, ending nearly a decade of service since its launch in 2015.
The decision comes amid a significant decline in user engagement with the page over the last five years.
In a blog post published on the YouTube Help page, the platform stated that audiences are increasingly discovering popular content through other means—such as recommendations, search suggestions, Shorts, comments, and Community posts—making the standalone Trending section less relevant.
“YouTube’s Trending Page Help Center has confirmed the feature will be discontinued on July 21,” the platform noted.
To replace it, YouTube will shift focus to YouTube Charts, which currently highlights top music videos, weekly podcast shows, and trending movie trailers.
The company said more categories will be added over time. Gaming content will continue to be featured through the Gaming Explore page.
The platform also emphasized that while the Trending Page is going away, users will still see trending videos through personalized recommendations, the Explore tab, creator channels, and subscription feeds.
This, according to YouTube, will help surface a broader range of popular content tailored to user interests.
For content creators, the Trending Page was often used to track viral trends and promote their work. YouTube reassured creators that the Inspiration tab within YouTube Studio will remain available, offering personalized content suggestions based on current trends and audience data.
In a related update, YouTube also announced a change to its monetization policy, aimed at cracking down on low-quality, mass-produced content. The revised rules will go into effect on July 15.
