The second session of the 13th Parliament will continue until July 9, with lawmakers set to spend much of the period debating the national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee held on Sunday under the chairmanship of Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad.
During the meeting, members reviewed the schedule and workload for the session and agreed to allocate 40 hours for the general discussion on the proposed budget.
According to the plan, parliamentary sittings will begin at 3:00 pm on all working days, except public holidays. To ensure completion of legislative business on time, the committee also proposed holding two sittings a day between June 27 and June 30.
The Speaker was authorised to adjust the number of working days or the duration of sittings if necessary.
Members were informed that lawmakers have submitted a total of 3,228 questions for the session. Of these, 191 are directed to the Prime Minister, while 3,037 are addressed to other ministers.
The Parliament Secretariat has also received 98 notices under Rule 71 seeking discussions on urgent public issues and 293 notices under Rule 131 related to resolutions.
Prime Minister and Leader of the House Tarique Rahman attended the meeting along with Opposition Leader Dr Shafiqur Rahman and other senior government and opposition lawmakers.
