NCP leaders meet Turkish FM Hakan Fidan in Dhaka

A delegation of the National Citizen Party (NCP) met Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Dhaka on Friday, where the two sides discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation, trade relations and regional issues, according to the party.

The meeting took place at a hotel in the capital and was led by NCP Convener Nahid Islam.

During the discussion, the Turkish foreign minister congratulated the party leadership for its role in the July movement that resulted in the ouster of the Sheikh Hasina government, the NCP said in a statement shared on social media on Saturday.

The NCP delegation thanked Türkiye for its continued support on issues affecting Bangladesh, particularly efforts related to resolving the Rohingya crisis.

Both sides exchanged views on a range of matters, including expanding defence cooperation, increasing trade and deepening diplomatic engagement between the two countries.

The party leaders also highlighted the importance of stronger youth-to-youth connections and called for greater academic, cultural and exchange programmes between Bangladesh and Türkiye.

Among those attending the meeting from the NCP were Member Secretary Akhter Hossen, Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari, Joint Convener Atiq Mujahid, International Affairs In-Charge Alauddin Mohammad, and Joint Member Secretaries Homaira Noor and Rafe Salman Rifat.

The meeting reflects ongoing efforts to enhance engagement between Bangladesh‍‍`s political stakeholders and international partners on issues of mutual interest.
