Dengue claims one more life as 110 new patients hospitalised

A dengue patient has died in the last 24 hours in Bangladesh, while 110 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country during the same period, according to the latest update from the health authorities.

The figures were shared in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The report shows that new dengue admissions were recorded across several divisions. Among them, 35 patients were admitted in Barishal, 12 in Chattogram, 15 in Dhaka Division outside city corporations, 12 in Dhaka South City Corporation, and one in Dhaka North City Corporation. Other cases include 21 in Khulna, eight in Mymensingh, five in Rajshahi, and one in Sylhet.

During the same 24-hour period, 83 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals. With this, the total number of recoveries this year has reached 3,138.

According to DGHS data, Bangladesh has recorded 3,307 dengue cases so far in 2026. Of them, 62.6 percent are male patients and 37.4 percent are female. The total death toll from dengue this year has now risen to six.

Health officials also noted that dengue continues to spread across the country, with both urban and outside city corporation areas reporting new infections almost daily.

For comparison, the DGHS said Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths in 2025, while in 2024 the country saw 101,214 infections and 575 deaths linked to the mosquito-borne disease.
